the beginning
Located in Numão, in the Upper Douro, next to the Ribeira de Teja reservoir, Quinta de Vale de Cavalos was acquired in 1988, at a time when the Poças family was already envisioning the pioneering project of producing DOC Douro wines.
The property
Their 45 hectares of vineyards, planted with some of the region's finest grape varieties, give rise to wines of high complexity and structure. The altitude of approximately 520 meters, combined with the unique transition between schist and granite soils, imparts remarkable freshness, balanced acidity, and pronounced minerality to the wines.
