Vale de Cavalos
Bought in 1988, when the family was already planning its pioneering Douro DOC project, Quinta Vale de Cavalos lies in Numão, in the Douro Superior, beside the Ribeira de Teja reservoir.
Its 45 hectares are planted with some of the region's noblest grape varieties. At around 520 metres, and on the unusual transition between schist and granite soils, the wines gain a notable freshness, balanced acidity and pronounced minerality.
